WebPlatform's managed WordPress file manager now provides a focused browser workspace for common file operations while keeping each merchant inside the correct website boundary.

Everyday file tasks without an FTP application

Eligible users can browse folders, search and select items, preview supported assets, upload files, create folders, rename or move content, make copies, and download individual files. Multiple selected files can also be packaged into a ZIP download, which is useful when handing a set of approved assets to a designer or retaining a local copy.

The interface adapts to desktop and mobile screens, keeps the current path visible, and shows which actions are available for the current selection. Upload progress and operation results stay in the same workspace so a merchant can confirm what happened.

Permission-aware controls

File actions are checked on the server, not only hidden in the interface. A user may be allowed to view and download content without receiving permission to edit or delete it. Actions also remain scoped to the selected merchant and managed website.

The file manager normalizes requested paths and rejects attempts to escape the managed website root. Sensitive platform paths and protected configuration files are not exposed as ordinary editable content.

Use file access responsibly

Convenient file access does not make every change low risk. Before editing a live theme or replacing a plugin file, create a verified backup and test the change in staging. Avoid uploading executable files from an unknown source, and grant edit or delete permissions only to team members who need them.

For normal page copy and media changes, continue to use the WordPress editor and Media Library. The file manager is best used when the task genuinely involves the website filesystem.

A safer workflow for a common request

1. Create a backup or confirm a recent verified backup exists.
2. Open the file manager from the correct website dashboard.
3. Navigate to the intended folder and verify the displayed path.
4. Download the original file before replacing it.
5. Upload the new asset and preview it where supported.
6. Check the affected page on desktop and mobile.
7. Purge the managed cache only after the update is confirmed.
