How to Find and Register the Right Domain Name
Your domain name is often the first place a customer meets your business. It should be easy to remember, clear to say aloud, and flexible enough to support the business you are building.
Search before you create an account
WebPlatform lets you search domain names and check availability before you sign in. Try a short business name, remove unnecessary punctuation, and compare a few relevant extensions such as .com, .co, or .net.
Search available domain names on WebPlatform and review the suggestions before deciding.
Choose a name customers can use
- Keep it short enough to type on a phone.
- Make the spelling obvious when someone hears it.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers unless they are part of your established name.
- Choose a name that still works if you add products, locations, or services later.
Register when you are ready
You do not need to register just to explore your options. When you find an available name, sign in or create a merchant account, provide the registration contact details, and complete payment. The domain registration is then tracked in your WebPlatform workspace.
Create a merchant account when you are ready to continue, or talk to the WebPlatform team if you need help choosing a name.
Keep your registration details current
Use an email address your team monitors and keep the registrant contact information accurate. Renewal reminders, ownership questions, and provider notices depend on those details.
Start with a name search, validate it with your team, and register only after you are confident it represents the business you want customers to remember.
